The purpose and aims of the ride as mentioned on their website:

• A peaceful, imaginative and fun protest against oil dependency and car culture.
• A celebration of the bicycle and of the power and individuality of the human body.
• A symbol of the vulnerability of the cyclist in traffic.
• To promote the idea of regular Car Free Sundays in Bristol City Centre and more traffic free environments and healthy hearts.
