Tuesday Teaser: The Wise Heart

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading and I found it from Carly Bennett’s blog. Anyone can join by doing the following:

* Grab the book you are currently reading
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* Please avoid SPOILERS (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away so you don’t ruin the book for others)
* Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.

The book I’m reading right now is The Wise Heart: Buddhist Psychology for the West by Jack Kornfield, who draws on his experience as a monk in Thailand, Burma and India, as well as his professional expertise. He provides an accessible guide to Buddhist psychology and its profound applications to the dilemmas we face today. My sister sent me this book for my birthday and it’s an uplifting and inspiring read if you are interested in Eastern and Western psychology.

The sentences I’ve chosen are as follows:

Teaser sentences (p.73): “Our body, thoughts, feelings, and personality all seem to be us, ours. And yet, upon examination, all these are also tentative, subject to change.”

  1. How interesting, I hadn’t really thought of it that way, but it’s so true! It’s really better to be ever changing than to be stagnant, after all.

  2. So very true!
