Literary Giveaway Blog Hop

Update: This giveaway is now closed and the winner is Zsuzsanna. I will be contacting her as soon as I can get to my email account. Thanks for stopping by literary explorers.

literarybloghopjun13-200x200 Judith from Leeswammes blog is hosting another literary blog hop and I am happily taking part. There is a list below of websites which are hosting giveaways of books that have some literary merit. Some great sites take part and you don’t have to have a blog to take part.

I am offering a £10 voucher from the Book Depository. To enter simply leave a comment telling me which book you are likely to buy. You can of course buy anything you like but I would love some suggestions for my wish list. You must leave an email address, entries without one will be removed because they ruin the chances of other people and leave me no way of contacting the winner.

Have fun! I intend to visit as many blogs as possible.

Read-a-long, Roberto Bolaño’s 2666

I am a bit late in posting this so please excuse the delay. The read-a-long for Bolaño’s 2666 quite hefty tome has started over on Leeswammes blog but you can still join if you fancy. This book is meant to be amazing and it both looks it and sounds it. It is also however 898 pages long so some encouragement to get through it wouldn’t be amiss.

The description on the back of the book reads as follows:

Revolving around the border town of Santa Teresa, a vortex for lost souls and the scene of some of the most horrifying crimes in twentieth-century fiction, it defines one of Latin America’s greatest writers and his visionary commitment to narrating the world as he saw it, in terrifying, awe-inspiring, irreducible beauty and despair.

We’ll be reading this book over 12 weeks starting on the 1st of March 2011 and this week’s reading is for pages 3 to 79.

Come and join us with weekly comments and summaries on Leeswammes blog.

Literary Blog Hop, A Giveaway

The book community in the ethereal landscape of the internet has something inspiring about it and even the booksellers and publishers seem to join in with the bloggers. Participation is encouraged and welcomed so in pursuit of being part of this band of readers, I am taking part in the Literary Giveaway Hop hosted at Leeswammes which is an event taking place from Saturday February 19th until (and including) Wednesday February 23th.

I am giving away the The Post-Birthday World by Lionel Shriver, a novel I reviewed on Suite101 and which inspired a lot of irritation in me. Shriver is the Orange prize winning author of We Need To Talk About Kevin and whether her work is likeable or not, it can’t help but leave the reader unmoved. At least that’s how I felt about it.

To be in with a chance to win please tweet or Facebook ‘like’ this post and then comment below to tell me you have done it. This giveaway is international so I will be happy to post anywhere. For an extra entry you can tweet about the giveaway, just mention your tweet username in the comment and @ephemeraldigest in the tweet. Remember to leave your twitter name or email address (in the comment form so it’s not public) so I can contact you if you have won.

Update: become an email subscriber for a chance to win Anne Tyler’s <a href="Noah’s Compass – subscribe from the home page.

Go forth and try to win lots of books! All the following blogs are participating as well.
